Description
By the mid 20th century, the publisher Destino issued a number of volumes on the different territories existing in the Iberian Peninsula. This of the Basque Country was accompanied by an overall map, designed by Pablo Cots. At the beginning of his book, Baroja goes verbally about the cartography: “There are four provinces that comprise the Spanish Basque Country: Alava, Gipuzkoa, Navarre and Biscay, whose respective capital cities are Vitoria, Donostia, Iruñea and Bilbao. There are three provinces that make up the French Basque Country: Lapurdi, Lower Navarre and Zuberoa”.
