Description

Tomás López (Madrid, 1730-1802) was the first Spanish geographer or cartographer publishing maps of the constituent territories of the Kingdom during the Enlightenment period. Despite lacking scientific, mathematic grounds, information was collected from locals in the ground, with his maps providing data more compelling than those published up to that point. This map of Biscay, published originally in 1769, was reedited in the course of the 19th century, and integrated into an overall atlas up to 1845.
